Agrícola Camelias is a private initiative dedicated to the conservation of the Tropical Dry Forest, currently in critical danger of extinction. Spanning 40 hectares, it is home to more than 230 bird species, 22 mammal species, 35 butterfly species, and about 50 medicinal plants, in the process of becoming a Natural Reserve of civil society. It also offers the chance to observe nocturnal birds and identify species in their natural habitat, providing a unique opportunity to spot rare, endemic varieties and experience the beauty of nature in its reserves.
The reserve is also a leading producer of organic foods, watered with solar energy and pollinated by its own apiary. It is engaged in research on medicinal plants, dry forest fungi, butterflies, and native bees, in collaboration with the University of Cartagena; it also operates as an ecolodge, offering eco-friendly accommodation integrated into nature.
Additionally, we contribute to mitigating the carbon footprint, as each visitor has the opportunity to plant a dry forest tree during their experience at Agrícola Camelias.
