This workshop offers the unique opportunity to learn how to make silver jewelry with Colombian emeralds, and you will also learn about mining and the jewelry transformation process. This tour is divided into three different activities:
1) Workshop (90-120 minutes). Includes: sterling silver material – rough Colombian emeralds – tools – written instructions with images, in which all steps are clearly explained – illustrated step-by-step instructions – personal instructor – guided tour through the school’s laboratories, where different manufacturing techniques are shown – certificate.
2) Guided visit to the Emerald Museum (25-45 minutes): Here you will learn everything about emeralds, their historical relevance and their scientific characteristics. Thanks to a life-size replica, you will experience being in an emerald tunnel and seeing the miners at work. The museum also maintains the legendary 236-pound Petra, the largest emerald ever found in Colombia. It has more than sixty crystals and more than two thousand carats in total.
3) Visit to the Caribbean Jewelry Factory and its showroom (25-45 minutes): You will observe the artisans who make gold and silver jewelry adorned with emeralds. You can also visit the showroom of this family business. It is the only jewel in Colombia with a Quality Management System and International Guarantee certificate.
