The underwater national park “Corales del Rosario y San Bernardo” is located just 45 kilometers southwest of the Bay of Cartagena and around one hour by speedboat. It is the only national park in Colombia mainly consisting of marine area, including unique ecosystems such as coral reefs, wetlands, mangroves, sandy beaches, rocky coastline, sedimentary soils and sea grass areas. The coral reef is home to hundreds of microscopic animals, fishes of different shapes and colors, shellfish, mollusks, anemones, sea urchins, starfishes and many seabirds, including pelicans and seagulls. All this demonstrates the ecological importance of this park, which was created to protect endangered species.
