La Boquilla is a fishing village that has been engaged in the heroic struggle of cultural resistance for over 200 years to preserve its ancestral traditions, in which drums play a leading role.
The workshop lasts approximately one hour and is a unique opportunity to connect with the African rhythms of Colombia’s Caribbean coast, such as cumbia, bullerengue, Mapalé and champeta.
The Cultural Cooperation team offers you to live an extraordinary experience that could not be more authentic in a beach kiosk. First comes a short theoretical introduction, followed by a live demonstration—and finally, your own chance to play the drums!
The experience is led by young entrepeneurs from the Afro-descendant community of La Boquilla, committed to human and economic development that is aimed at rescuing and preserving the cultural traditions of the African heritage.
